And the Oscar goes to....
Competition will be joining me after a week in order to put the 'I' in IFS. If I'm not attacked by any jungle creatures, I'll post pictures of my adventures, wish me luck.
I got the call today, we unfortunately did not win the grand prize, but our story was a runner-up in the contest. What this means is that we get a $100 gift card to IHOP, our story will be featured on the IHOP website, and I may be interviewed by local media outlets that want to cover the story. Not bad.
- I tried to deliver password protected posts yesterday, but they aren't going to work in our current system. There are two options moving forward to achieve this goal:
- keep us on MovableType but move over to dynamic content (php). This would have the least effect on everyone, but as I have found from using MT, it is not as widely supported as Wordpress, so there are less cool plugins.
- move us onto Wordpress. This would be a new system, but it is really similar to MT so everyone should be able to figure it out. I know we just moved so I am weighing that in my decision. The last move took several days time so I will not be making this move for a while.
- The I.F.S. Game is moving along nicely. I have added a link to the top of the left column for easy access in the future. Everything is set for another level, but it would be nice to get the scoreboard completed as well. Which would you rather see first?
- The I.F.S. Constitution - Our beloved Minister of Philanthropy has drafted a more formal constitution that needs to be melded with our napkins so that we have super sacred documents. Philanthropy has some great ideas for formalizing some elements of our society in an effort to preserve it's original intent, while providing groups of ministers the freedom to conduct meetings and business.
- The Next I.F.S. Meeting - We have a real need for some business to be taken care of, and the next meeting is a great opportunity for this to happen. I don't want to sink ships, but from what I have heard Chicago is not going to happen, as there are many unknowns in people's lives right now. The latest I heard from Team Germany was that they will not be able to make it. I personally am sitting on my rebate money, but could really use it to cover the past month's credit bills as I apparently got a little crazey.
- It Doesn't Happen At IHOP - I got the call and our story was a runner-up.
Love you,
Competition
The Deutschland fussball team advanced to the 2008 European Cup final last night, when they took out the Turks 3-2. Even more surprising though was that the country was able to avoid a much anticipated all out racial war (think white folk and latino tension in Ca). After the win, us and fellow Deutschers celebrated by chanting bus, bus, bus while attempting to flip one over. The final game will be played this Sunday v. Drunk Ruskies or Lispy Spainards. I recon a few of you fussballers will take the time to cheer on zie DEUTSCHERS.

For Nova,
The final game of the College World Series is on tonight and in case you haven't heard its the Dogs vs. the Dogs. Fresno State of course being the Cinderella story.

You must be torn. Which side are you on?
I thought you flapjacks might like an update on the travels. We are off to Croatia next week, for some fun and sun at the Garden Festival. So get ready to dilate like the 1920's Mickey Mouse and lets MAKE PARTY!!!!!

Costumes:
Nova has decided on Little Bo Peep. Basically a Blue bonnet, adult daiper and a walking stick.
Curtis went with cupid. Accessories include a wand and pink tutu.
I was lucky enough to finagle a full-sized big bird costume, neck extension included.
"Needless to say, this seemed like a good way to spend four dollars.
I was wrong, though. Buying this record was an outstanding way to spend four dollars. In the Pantheon of Hilariously Bad Athlete Rap, it's the missing link between "The Super Bowl Shuffle" and Kobe Bryant's abysmal "Thug Poet." Is there anything musically redeeming about it? Not at all. Is it worth listening to if you're an NBA fan? Absolutely."
Check it out here if you have time.

Proud to be a flapjack!
Oh my Science. Nice Frick, careful for those willy fish.
Buwtiful post...so much progress. SF for a meeting sounds great...selfishly, I would like to be there for the first OC meeting. But, I assume there will be many more to come, so, not too worried about it. Sorry that Chicago cant happen for me, but tickets alone are over a grand. Someday...
Wow, not bad at all. Hope the interviews go well Bunchy.
That's a great article. Hey MAD, I was just looking at the ugly default desktop wallpaper on my macbook and was hoping perhaps you could design a sweet I.F.S. wallpaper that each minister could enjoy for their computer. How do you feel about that?
IFS in the news, doing BIG thangs.
Take this with you on your journey (from today's Ventura County Star):

Good luck MOM!
wow...I have been in chico for almost three weeks now...I have stained a little over 4000 sq. ft. of wood, fixed many things and murdered many a weed. however i have not smoked weed. yup thats right. regardless...my mom is still using an archaic form of internet, dial-up (the one with the awesome cacophony of dings, pings and what have you) and i have not been staying current with our site. I just got caught up and have been laughing loudly in a room all by myself. oh my science, I miss you all! I hope to have everything finished up by tonight and hopefully be in I-town by a reasonable hour tomorrow. rabbi, is there anything you would like me to bring? and to anyone north of Irvine, im happy to pick some people up on the way. see ya soon. ps. sorry ruskies, I was pulling for you.
BTW, great post M&T
Yeah, I'm going to the Outside Lands Festival that weekend 22 - 24 so I couldn't do it that weekend. I'm not opposed to two SF weekends, just saying OC is due as well, and would be the easier for the majority due to proximity. I understand it's not as hip, but we do have the Angels, Disneyland, and Sandy Cohen
M+T, do you already have plans while you're up in SF in August, or would you want to plan a meeting during that time?
It's true, we've never had an official SF IFS meeting... maybe we're due.
I would love to have a meeting in San Fran. We haven't done that since I've been on board and it is the city of brotherly love (not necessarily gay). We could still go see a ball game at a very badass ball park (Giants vs. Doyers, Aug 9th?) I know it's not letters' beloved cubbies who are kicking ass right now, but I think it's a decent consolation. I feel like this would be a good mix between the pricey Chicago trip and tried and true turnpike IHOP. I'm happy to coordinate or co-coordinate if the enthusiasm is there. Let me know what you guys think.
I was going to suggest OC since we have several places to stay within 10 minutes of each other, and LA is closer, but I could SF. Just already going up there Aug. 21 - 25 personally.
Yeah, its a bummer about the trip, but I know for me personally I'm practically broke with just moving to a new city and living off the streets...inner city pressure. Are we gonna have the meeting at Turnpike? OC? How about up north now that Comp is moving up here and AP and myself are here...huh, change of pace, I've spotted an IHOP or two.
Yeah Letters airfare and gas are just ridiculous. With all ministers with the exception of ze germans here in California it's tough, but I think everyone appreciates the enthusiasm you were bringing to the table. So what does everyone think of August or September for I.F.S. The Division & Reunification.
well, if it's not going to happen, it's not gonna happen... though it would have been nice to keep the guy who was trying to organize the trip in the loop. but, whatever... when we started talking about this, gas was $2.80 a gallon, so i understand.
so, when's next meeting? We've got some shit to figure out.
Awesome bunchy. Will you throw up a link on the left-hand column of the site at some point so we can have easy access to flying-waffle stomping?
Just wanted to let everyone know that the game is still moving along. I've put things in place for more levels to be added, created a flying enemy that you can preview on level 1 right now, and most importantly, have implemented better enemy collision detection in the game, so it is more precise.
Let me know what you think. Level 3 should hopefully drop sometime this week.
Woah, take it eahsey. Nothing wrong with a little friendly competition. Best of luck to both sides...the match starts in 5 mins.
